2011 Spring Venturing District Moot

What is a Moot?
- The word moot is an Old English word meaning assembly or gathering.
- Lord Robert Baden-Powell (the founder of Scouting) first applied the word to a gathering of Rover Scouts in a letter to Percy Bantock Nevill, who co-ordinated the first Moot in London, 1926.
- Moots are based on the foundations of Venturing: Leadership, Service, and Community.
- There is always plenty to do at Moot with many activities planned throughout the weekend.
When is the Venturing Moot?
- The Downeast District Venturing Moot takes place at the same time and place as the Downeast District Camporee.
