1. MESSAGE FROM MATTHEW RANDALL.

Greetings All,

As most of you have probably heard, Steve Saucier has been promoted to serve as DE for York District.

What this means is in the interim, you get me as your District Executive.  My name is Matthew Randall and I currently serve as the Field Director for Pine Tree Council, while moonlighting as Scout Master for Troop 633 in Brunswick (where I live).  I will be doing my best to fill in the gaps as we go through the process of hiring a new person to be District Executive for Down East District.  Now, I still get to perform my obligations as Field Director on top of helping all you out as well, so please be patient as I do my best to balance all the responsibilities.

If you need me, you can reach me at any of the following numbers -

797-5252 x21 (Work)

654-1972 (Cell - though it does not pick up at my home)

729-4348 (Home)

Mrandall@bsamail.org

I know that right now the two biggest jobs I have to accomplish for the district is to schedule Family FOS presentation dates with each of you, and help Jeff Northgraves and his team complete the rechartering of all the units in Down East.

I will be calling you in the next two days to secure a Family FOS Presentation date, so please talk with your committee and find out what date works best for your unit.

I thank you all for your time and energy.  We will be hiring a new person as executive as quickly as we can, but we are going to hire based on competency, not availability - so we will take the time we need to in order to make the best selection we can for you and your Scouts.

Thank you for helping our Scouting Family.

Sincerely,

Matthew Randall

3. TRAINER’S EDGE TRAINING.

From Bob Robinson, Volunteer Training Chairman at Pine Tree Council: I was wondering if you would send an email out to your district email list for a reminder about the Trainer;s EDGE training being January 30th at the Council Service Center. Anyone interested in training or would like to have a better understanding of presenting material are welcome to attend. There is no fee for this course. Interested folks should call the service center to register for this. Pre-registration is required so that we can be prepared with materials etc.

Also, please send an email out for a “Save the date” memo for the University of Scouting 2010. We have a few exciting changes to the University this year. Will be having a Pow Wow for cub leaders and youth age 14 or older are encouraged too attend this year. The University catalog will be coming out shortly.
