1. SCOUTING FOR FOOD =96 FINAL ENTRY.****
Cub Scouts from Pack 215 and Boy Scouts from Troop 215 collected over 350
items, weighing over 250 pounds, of food for the Thomaston Food Pantry as
part of the National Scouting for Food campaign. Scouting for Food is part
of the Boy Scouts of America's Good Turn for America service project.
Through this effort, Scouts work to collect food in their communities,
which is given to local food banks for distribution to families in need at
no cost. ****

2. HISTORY FOR CUB SCOUTS.****
** **
Many of the Cub Scout ranks have an achievement that concerns visiting an
historical site. This year Maine Maritime Museum is offering Scouts a
chance to do that, have some Christmas fun and enjoy treats and crafts as
well. The museum's historic Donnell House, the restored home of
19thCentury ship builder William T. Donnell, will be decorated in the
lavish
Victorian style. Visiting Scouts can learn about how the family lived and
the history of shipbuilding in Bath. After, historically authentic treats
and crafts will be available in the museum's boatshop. If you are
interested in bringing your Cubs for a tour with a costumed interpreter,
please contact Jim Nelson at 443-1316, ext 325 or e-mail
nelson@maritimeme.org. The museum is offering a special admission rate for
Cub Scout Dens****

The Beacon is a user friendly, pretty simple Downeast District information
e-newsletter, written to support leaders and families of Packs, Troops,
Ships, Crews and Explorer Posts. Our goal is to reach every registered
leader, committee member, and parent in each unit in Downeast District. So,
*ask folks in your unit to send their preferred email address to the Beacon
