Having a summertime pack program is your opportunity to keep scouting in the minds of your members, and to strengthen your fall program before it even begins.

  • Summertime pack events are informal family gatherings.
  • The goal is to continue having monthly outings, even when you're not having weekly meetings.
  • When the summer has ended, apply for the Summer Time pack Award.

The key to a quality program, and successful Cub Scout Pack, is continuous development through meetings. Meetings keep the scouts involved and interested with the program. Once meetings stop, scouts forget about the pack.

The Summertime Pack Program is your opportunity to hold meetings during the summer months. You don’t need to have regular den or pack meetings, but consider family oriented informal get-togethers. Holding summer activities also makes your pack, or den, eligible for the “Summertime Pack Award”.

The Summertime Pack Award is an award given to Packs that stay active over the summer months. To be active during the summer, a Den and/or Pack must have monthly activities for June, July, and August. Please see the Summertime Pack Award application form. The award is presented as a certificate, ribbon, and an award segment for the Cub Scout uniform.

To get started planning your summertime program, consider these possible Pack family activities:

  • End of year picnic (June)

    • Any Public Beaches or Parks nearby?
    • This can be a great yearly tradition.
    • Invite the Troop!
    • Make this your end-of-season cour-of-honor.
  • Rain gutter Regatta

  • Beach day

  • Family campout - Remember that family camping does not mean tents! RV's, cabins, any spot with running water and toilots will work.

  • Cub Scout Day Camp

  • Cub Scout Resident Camp

  • Webelos Campout (June/July/Aug)
