Youth Protection Training
All leaders should take Youth Protection Training, and renewal is required every three years to maintain your trained status. Many District and Council sponsored activities may require at least one leader in attendance who is current in this training. This will be offered at district roundtables.
Fast Start Training
All new leaders must take part in the Fast Start training, which can be done individually. There is a separate Fast Start video for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing.
Troop Committee Challenge Training
The Troop Committee Challenge is a three-hour course designed to be taken by the Troop Committee as a unit. A member of the Training Committee or the Commissioner Staff will be pleased to schedule and bring this training to your unit.
BALOO
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation must have been completed by at least one adult who is part of the planning and present at any campout of the pack in order to obtain a Local Tour Permit and be covered by BSA’s liability insurance – even if leaders have completed the OWL Training.
OWL
Outdoor Skills for Webelos Den Leaders training is required for any Webelos Leader who takes a den on any overnight activity.
Wood Badge
Wood Badge was originally presented by Lord Baden-Powell in 1919 as a means of strengthening and preserving the Scout movement in each country throughout the world.
Today in the United States, Wood Badge combines a leadership development program with the opportunity to sharpen personal outdoor/camping skills. The leadership skills one learns in Wood Badge are not only applicable to Scouting, but also to the growth of the individual and the roles in life they fill.
Powder Horn
The venturing program offers youth 14-21 opportunities limited only by their imagination and desire. This course provides leaders with the resources to help guide those youth in meething their goals.
